Barry Kupferberg

Barry Kupferberg has more than 30 years of investment banking and distressed investment experience. In 2020, Mr. Kupferberg founded Barkers Point Capital Advisors to advise and work with companies and management teams seeking advice, introductions and capital raising services with a focus on companies involved in energy technology, mobility and related infrastructure technologies. Mr. Kupferberg has also provided expert witness testimony on various financial matters.

For the past 15 years, he was a Partner at Trilogy Capital, a distressed credit hedge fund, specializing in restructurings and bankruptcies of a variety of asset intensive businesses. For the past seven years, he served as Director of Research, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. During his tenure, the firm achieved top quartile performance in independent rankings among distressed firms. Trilogy participated in a wide variety of high-profile distressed investments across various industries including the energy, power and mining industries as well as gaming, real estate and secured aircraft.

Mr. Kupferberg has led and served on dozens of official and ad hoc creditor committees and is often quoted in Barron’s, Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg on distressed investing.

Prior to joining Trilogy, he was a Principal with Morgan Stanley’s investment banking division from 1988 to 2001 where he specialized in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, project finance and capital markets. Mr. Kupferberg started his investment banking career at Kidder Peabody in its project finance and leasing business. Mr. Kupferberg graduated from Yale with a BA in Electrical Engineering and Economics. Mr. Kupferberg is an active volunteer for American Corporate Partners, a mentoring organization helping veterans transition into the private sector.
